Episode 31 – Player’s Handbook 3

Welcome everyone to the in the works on being new with our audio Episode! In episode 31 we discuss and talk about some of the new things you’ll find in the PHB3. Is this episode late? Most definitely! Would I warn you that with our new setup, that we aren’t use to, we occasionally get robot voices? YES! So please, don’t write us about it. I know about it, which means Matt will know about it, which means we’re going to fix it. Mostly because I friggin refuse to edit that much again for another podcast. Plus I don’t want the voice over robot voice stuff we had this time around. We will get it fixed, I just don’t know when.

Which means we may or may not be on a slight break, I am not sure. If the audio on the next podcast isn’t too bad as far as being able to match them up and etc, I will edit it and put it out. If not, then I’m going to scrap it and we’ll work out the kinds sooner rather than later in our recording process. What that means is I’ll do my best to post entertaining blog posts until then, and maybe do the occasional skype bonus episode with other podcasters. I don’t know, but I will try to keep you all entertained.

Anyway, enjoy our overview of the PHB3!

Episode 30 – DDI stuff: Rituals, Valenar, and Kalashtar

Welcome to Episode 30! In this episode we explore some of the DDI articles that have come out recently for all of you paying people to read. Don’t have a DDI subscription? Well then tough, you won’t be able to get on the “in” of our talks. What you can do though is listen and see if there are articles that are interesting enough to have you possibly start into DDI.

Specifically in this episode we talk about: the current Ritually Speaking article, which deals with item focus rituals, which I think are pretty darn cool; as well as the Winning Races article entitled “The Fighting Styles of the Valenar”, which will give you both fluff and crunch to your favorite elves from Eberron; and we wrap it up with the Power of the Mind article focusing on the Kalashtar, which has a great deal of fluff and is by the main man himself, Keith Baker, so you know it’ll be good.

Here soon Matt and myself will already stray from our new episode formula for a very deep talk about how Wizards has released their campaign books, what some of the changes they are looking to do, and how we as human beings percieve the past, present, and possible future of campaign setting releases. Will it be our next podcast? Can’t tell ya, cause I don’t know. If anything, the PHB3 landed, so I’d expect one of those two if I was you. You don’t have to take my word for it but well, I am in the know on this one… kinda.

Bonus Episode 2 – Quick Update/Alert

Hey everyone!

I’m releasing a quick “bonus” episode today for a few reasons. One being that it is my friend’s birthday and the other being that there are a few changes happening that you all need to know about.

I know what you’re asking, didn’t we just do some changes? Well these aren’t show style changes, Matt is going to do some changes to our feed and how we release the podcast, so things might get a bit bumpy for a day or two coming up here. I also clear up some things that we didn’t know about iplay4E last show.

In regards to the changes to our feed, if you’re reading this, make sure to check back here before the next show goes out and we’ll have any info you will need in regards to if anything dramatic changed or not… basically if we’ll have a new feed you’ll need to use.

In general, if you read the site, then you really don’t need to listen to this “bonus” episode due to the fact it is just me wishing a happy birthday, the iplay4E information will also be in the next official podcast, and you’re already doing exactly what you need to do to get any information/warnings on our feed changes.

Have fun kids!

Episode 29 – Martial Power 2

Welcome to Episode 29 – Martial Power 2. In this episode we talk about a little tool, or site really, called iplay4E. Matt has used and digs this tool, highly suggested if you have a DDI account and often have or use a computer for your D&D sessions and have an internet connection at the same time. After that we break down the new book, Martial Power 2, specifically the new build options for the classes. We have decided to skip discussing powers, paragon paths, epic destinies, feats, and so on for things that are common in most books. Especially due to the fact that the things we skip are new things made specifically for the new builds.

In this episode, we announce that we have basically decided on a format and theme for the show, once again, but are willing to take requests on if you want us to talk about a specific book or thing. Chances are, if we can’t or rather wouldn’t talk about something on the show, we’ll more than likely reply with whatever we can. Whether it be our opinion, suggestions, etc. Even though we have an aim now, or again rather, we’re still here to please.

Episode 28 – Adventurer’s Vault 2

Welcome to episode 28 – Adventurer’s Vault 2. In this episode we break down the obvious book, talk about some of what is in it, but most importantly, is it worth your money. Now, I could tell you whether to buy it or not, but that would defeat the purpose of forcing you to listen. You will also notice something new we are going to try out, transition music! That way you’ll know when we go from nonsense chit chat to a topic of real importance.

Once again it had been awhile since we recorded so we had a lot of chit chat to begin with, the topics bounced back and forth but included things like Scribblenauts for the DS and a little site called Geeky Clean.

Episode 27 – Speed it up!

Welcome to Episode 27 – Speed it up! In this episode we give tips about how to speed up gameplay and what we plan on doing in our very own gaming group. That is after we spend some time catching up with you all, mostly we talk about TV shows and Dragon Age, we love Dragon Age. Have you played Dragon Age? You really should play Dragon Age if you haven’t, seriously, the game is awesome.

This episode runs just under 1 hour and 18 minutes, or 77.5 minutes to be slightly more exact.

This podcast is much more of a trainwreck then we were all planning, hopefully it’ll still be enjoyable. If anything, at least we have a real omnidirectional microphone for our group now.

Episode 25 – Starting Level and Leveling Rate

Welcome to episode 25 – starting level and leveling rate. Intro music is Esa Llamada by Ciruelo Cilíndrico.

WARNING: This episode is a much lower and more staticy quality than usual. We attempted to use our old extremely sensetive USB Rockband microphones as an omnidirectional microhpone in order to have a better “round table” discussion with… mixed results. We are looking into an actual omnidirectional microphone soon, a good one.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Supernatural Season 5 (with spoilers)
  • Matt drops a bomb
  • Battlestar Glactica, spoiling it for Tim
  • Spoiling things in general and how fun it is
  • House M.D.
  • Babies
  • Retarded Policeman (Youtube Show)
  • Shoutout to Trapcast. Specifically Jenn and Sara
  • and finally… on to the show

This episode runs about 50 minutes. Please send emails to podcast@runningdtw.com with questions or suggestions.

  • Fables comic
  • Scribblenauts
  • MMO’s (Champions Online, WoW, Fallen Earth, CoH, etc etc)
  • Party roles in your D&D 4E group and how to cope without them
  • More MMO talk

Episode 23 – Divine Power

Welcome to Episode 23. Here is an overview of what we talk about this episode:

  • We start off with Jason talking about his trip to AnimeIowa where he became some guys boy toy.
  • Jason mentions the lack of body odor at AnimeIowa and I bring up the GenCon 1-2-3 rule (minimum 1 shower, 2 meals, and 3 hours of sleep per day).
  • Neither of us made it to GenCon and we are sad about it.
  • GenCon Twitter updates were a major source of my jealousy.
  • Jason talks about how much drinking goes on at GenCon and a drunken phone call he recieved from Kevin of The Walking Eye podcast.
  • Jason earns a gold star and suddenly we are now tracking the good things Jason does.
  • Divine power
